Name: Ishtar Ereshkil
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Nationality: Murate
Looks:
Ishtar is about average height for a young woman her age, at 5'5", if not slightly taller. She is ectomorphic in physique, with proportionately long limbs and an angular shape, but is not fed well, so she looks very bony. She does not boast a shapely, voluptuous figure, but rather has a straighter hourglass shape. Her hands and feet are rather large, with long digits. Ishtar's fingernails are short and somewhat chewed, if not dirty. Her ears are large and keen, with loose earlobes.
To complement her build, she has a long neck and a small, elegant head. Her face is like a pentagon, with flat cheeks, high cheekbones, and a pointed chin. Ishtar also has very large, almond-shaped eyes that are marked with long, dark eyelashes and prominent, sweeping eyebrows, as well as a long, straight nose. Her lips have a distinct Cupid's bow and are fairly full without looking puffy or puckered. Behind her lips are ivory teeth that could benefit from more frequent cleaning and probably braces, if they existed in this world. Finally, she boasts a head of thick, wavy hair that reaches the small of her back.
Her skin tone is like the back of an oak leaf in autumn -- a pale yellow ochre, or a light olive shade. It fluctuates slightly with the seasons, being very fair in the winter and tanned in the summer. She has a few small beauty marks, but no freckles, and since her skin is thin and not very elastic, her legs and hips are marred with the faint remainder of pubescent stretch marks. Ishtar, thanks to her skin tone, only darkens in the summer, but when she spends prolonged periods of time in the hot sun, she gets mild sunburn on her nose and back. Her hair is a rich chestnut brown that glows a reddish copper in the sunlight. Ishtar's eyes are dark blue, and she is very nearsighted.
Typically, Ishtar's clothes are very plain. She usually wears a loose white linen tunic that reaches her lower thigh, with a high neck and some holes and patches every now and then. When it's cold, she wears a longer, charcoal-gray robe and a thin brown shawl. She often goes barefoot, and so the soles of her feet are rough and calloused, but when it's too hot or too cold, she ties leaves to her feet or wraps them in rags. Shoes are for squares.
Her only adornment is a small necklace, with a leather string and a crow's feather as a pendant.
Personality:
Ishtar is outwardly sarcastic and tends to keep to herself, her pet crow, and her close friends. She doesn't take many things seriously and whiles away her days daydreaming of a better life, of freedom... or completely random things, like elephants jumping over daffodils. She is clever and literate, and skilled with a pencil and paints, and can be seen scribbling in the dirt or on walls. However, she is hopelessly useless when it comes to weaving and anything that involves heavy lifting. As of yet, she is a blissfully unemployed bohemian hobo and lives in the outskirts of the Muratian cities, and frequents the wilderness to get away from the crowds. Because she is too proud to beg, she frequently steals or forages on her own, keeping a mostly vegetarian diet.
The Ishtar that she hides behind a facade of brutal honesty and sarcasm, if not silence, is a sensitive, introverted creature. She is more emotional than she likes to say she is and has frequent mood swings for no apparent reason. Despite this, she is not an angry or tense type of person -- more relaxed. Though generally optimistic, she does have bouts of mild depression that can last from less than an hour to a few days. Ishtar enjoys helping others, particularly children, animals, and the elderly or disabled, and does not tolerate arrogance or violent behavior. Although she herself is more idealistic than reasonable, she is never tactful with those who act superior, and has a rebellious side to her, as well. She believes that it is better to be honest over being polite, which often lands her in trouble with authority figures.
A "hippie" by nature, Ishtar has a rather laissez-faire attitude toward things, though she despises the oppression that the majority of Muratians are suffering and supports the efforts of the Grellon. She is lenient and relaxed most of the time, and sometimes appears not to care about anything other than the bare necessities of survival, her friends, and her artwork. In spite of her apparent laziness, Ishtar is a deep character, and is known to say profound (or hilarious) things without ever realizing it.
Items/Pets: No weapons, except maybe a piece of charcoal... if that counts. They say the pen is mightier than the sword. Her animal companion is a large black crow named Loki.
Other: potato.
