Name: Gavroche
Age: 9 ½
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Nationality: Murate
Looks: Gavroche is a small whirlwind of a boy. He stands at about 4’9 and he is rather thin, given his build and the lack of food floating around. One will always find this child covered in a fine layer of dirt; his clothes are usually stiff with sweat and grime. He feels no need to wash often, or to change, because Murate is already in ruins and what is one stinky urchin going to do? Nothing much. The child has dark brown hair, which falls down past his hairs. It almost falls into his eyes. Quite often, Gavroche can be found wearing a gentleman’s cap, which almost always falls over his dancing blue eyes.
Gavroche usually wears the discarded clothes of people older than him. He prefers to wear a simple pair of trousers and a tunic; nothing fancy for him. When the nights get long and cold, he simply nicks a blanket and curls up next to the bakery, ‘cause it tends to be warm there at night. One might find the gaunt, dirty boy pathetic, but Gavroche is almost always wearing some sort of grin on his face. He’s full of life, and energy. Poverty cannot change this fact.
Personality: Gavroche is not often brought down by despair or hopelessness, though he isn’t foolishly optimistic. He knows the bad things, he simply chooses to work his way through them. Wallowing in one’s sorrow only gets one stuck there, and the boy has dreams for himself, which include getting out of Magrej’s kingdom. Despite his low social status, Gavroche is witty, intelligent, and quite cheeky. He has no issue in standing up to authority; he has no issue in contradicting those older and wiser than him, when he feels they are wrong. While the child may be unable to read and write anything other than his first name, the boy has a strong moral compass. He does things not for a reward, but because they are right. Sometimes, for the sake of survival, he must do wrong things, but one must remember: Gavroche would much rather pay for all his food, than steal it, but he also wants to live.
The young boy is very energetic and intelligence. Thanks to his lifestyle, most of this is wasted on finding ways to steal and make money. However, if one was to sit down and try to teach the boy, one would find that he catches on quickly. He can be quite logical when he needs to be, and since his emotions rarely overwhelm him, he is not the type of boy to leap up and quit when things get hard. Not to say that he doesn’t feel emotion- he does. Most of the time, Gavroche does prefer to keep his thoughts secret. He doesn't like to talk about intimate things. Makes him uncomfortable.
Gavroche’s sharp tongue, combined with his moral compass telling him to stick up for the weak, often put him in danger. He knows how to charm or lie his way out of sticky situations, though, and has no qualms with employing any tricks he must to survive. He cannot accomplish his dreams if he is dead, after all. Also, Gavroche is a one man team. He doesn't need people. Doesn't usually like them enough to have them around for long, actually.
Items/Pets: Gavroche has a small hound dog that often tags along with him. He doesn’t have a name for the creature; he simply calls it Pup and if anyone asks about Pup, he tends to pretend that he hates the animal. Most often, he’ll aim a kick at the creature, but if one sticks around long enough, they’ll find that Gavroche apologizes to Pup every time and feeds him the most delicious bit of food he can pick up at the moment.
