Name: Nerissa
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Species: Mermaid
Nationality: Outsider
Looks: When walking on shore, the mermaid stands at 5’6. She is a thin, graceful woman; perhaps the mermaids grace comes from being in the water, where grace is the only way for someone to survive. Whatever the reason, she moves like a dancer, never tripping, never falling…unless she forgets to ensure she never dries out, in which case this greyeyed beauty legs begin to transform back into the tail of a fish. Her tail is plain in color, but this plainness allows Nerissa to blend in easily with her surroundings.
Nerissa has pale skin, which comes from spending most of her time away from the sun, for if she dries out on land it only spells trouble. She would be described as the traditional beauty, with her large blue eyes, full lips, and long blonde hair. Nerissa, however, must be beautiful. An ugly mermaid does not assist her race, after all.
Given her race, Nerissa rarely clothes herself. The only time she bothers is when she must go on land. Then, she will go to a small cove on shore, which humans have difficulty reaching. She stores her clothes there, and so far, no one has found them. Since she primarily goes on land to toy with the sailors, Nerissa wears only the finest clothing.
Personality: Mermaids are often described as stupid and fish-like, or violent beings that will seduce a man whenever the chance arises. Nerissa fits into the later category, though she is not entirely ruled by her emotions, or the need to harm. The mermaid is incredibly intellectual and picks up on things easily. It is hard to hide anything from this woman; primarily because humans are almost always lying to her, therefore she’ll badger them until they either admit they’re lying or she is certain that they are not. The woman does know how to turn on the charm, though. She can change from a stoic, intelligent woman into a giggling whore, or whatever the sailor requires.
Wronging the mermaid is an incredibly bad idea, though. Nerissa is, as stated before, violent. While her people do not fight often, she is still skilled in battle, and she does not play nice. She will do all she can to get revenge, which usually is incredibly bloody. Unlike those spineless human girls, Nerissa is not afraid of blood or death. She finds anatomy intriguing, actually, and she tends to kill those she despises by dragging them beneath the water. She uses their bodies for…science.
When among her kind, Nerissa is actually quite friendly. She is wise, and capable of offering advice. She never tires of listening to the problems of others, and trying to help, although she does not enjoy revealing her own emotions. She holds these things close to her, and wishes for no one else to know them. This means that she is often overwhelmed, so it is not uncommon for Nerissa to disappear for many days at a time, staying on shore to drown herself in her sorrows and think away from her companions.
