The mermaid takes on a natural beauty. She is pure woman and has been created like the beauty of the sea that she is. Her eyes are a glittering hazel shade and often hold a rather curious and questioning look. Often times she comes to peer up at people with wide and beautiful eyes that draw many in, seeking answers to unspoken questions. She holds a natural grace and beauty about her. Her hair is soft brunette and falls in soft waves and curls about her back and shoulders, coming right down to her waist. Her cheek bones are high cut and her lips offer a soft and inviting pout. Her torso is of course human and her waist is slender and her breasts are always left bare though often conveniently covered by her brunette hair. Her skin is sun kissed from time spent sitting in the sun and her features are forever holding a curious and inquisitive nature as she is quite curious of things that she knows little about.
Just where her waist is formed her tail begins to form. Her scales are created of the color of the sunset washed in gold. Her scales always hold a soft shimmer and her tail is slender and offers her a quick escape when she is within the ocean. She has natural and unmatched beauty of which she is well aware of and yet she holds a heart as golden as her own scales. However the mermaid along with all mermaids does hold a human form. When she is human she maintains her very slender form, her body quite feminine. Her skin remains sunkissed and her gentle hazel eyes remain. She holds just about every feature that she maintains as a mermaid, as a human save for the fact that when she leaves the water she gains a set of legs to walk with though she often will not leave the ocean unless it is raining to be sure that she will be able to keep enough moisture to keep herself from drying out.

Nerissa's personality is somewhat of a mystery. The typical tale of a mermaid is that of the beautiful woman with the fish scale tail that at first comes to the surface singing beautiful songs like a siren and soon after becomes a vicious being sent to kill those that she taunts with her natural beauty, some say that mermaids breed and kill and continue on with their ways as wild sirens of the sea. Beautiful and yet dangerous and yet Nerissa is different. Perhaps not completely and yet this mermaid has a heart. Her life is not devoted to killing. Her intentions are not to woo sailors into her grasp only to kill them. Her heart is softer and her curiosity often out weighs the need to kill. She does not imagine herself capturing mates and murdering them or feasting on them soon after. She envisions what it might be like on land, what things might be like outside of the water.
Don't get her wrong, she adores her home in the sea. The natural wonders and beauty of the sea dazzle her and she doesn't imagine living outside of her home, she simply harbors a very large curiosity for what remains outside of the waters. She is ever curious as to the two leggeds that wander and the other various creatures that she spots wandering about. The woman however is quite tough. She holds a severely tough composure. She is not bitter, she does not have a bad mouth, she is not rude or forward. In fact she is rather quite patient and kind. She is soft spoken and hauntingly beautiful and yet it is quite hard to cause her visible pain. Whether or not something hurts her, she has yet to show it without something extreme to push her there. Other then that she speaks in a lulling and melodic tone. She sings with all the beauty that most mermaids hold. She radiates wild beauty and often times she comes to sit upon rocks within the ocean to gaze towards the shore, ever curious of what might show up at the beach from time to time. Often times she can be found spending time around the sunken island Kai, ever curious of the city that sank beneath the waters. She is forever gathering trinkets and items to investigate and show to other mermaids and when she comes to the surface and walks on land she remains for hours at a time only through days that hold quite a bit of moisture for otherwise her very life remains in danger.
History:
Seeing as she is a mermaid, not many know of her history or really anything about her. She is a creature of mystery for she rarely finds any creature surface wise to talk to however beneath the waters, she has her sister, Zelda. She spends days searching the waters of the Dirya sea with Zelda or spends time above the waters gazing towards the shore. Her life has thus far been rather uneventful, filling her days with simple explorations and days spent in the sun with a golden brush to her hair. At first glance one could think that Nerissa is vain, a typical mermaid and yet upon closer inspection, she is more.
