The wind blew violently against the thin frame's rotten clothes, eager hands whipping through the tears, greedily stroking parts of the human flesh that were exposed and unwilling to be touched. A slight shiver coursed through the thin frame's body, jarring teeth and clattering loudly in ears as slow sore feet continued to move at a snail's pace. Pain laced through each step, a new sharp feeling began to pound in the lower back as the thin frame bent over to pick up a fallen shaw that was filthy and worn. But there was nothing else the slow moving entity owned to keep them covered, to make sure the too slim shoulders and arms were not showing their brands of heritage or the scrapes and bruises gained on the journey to the barren wasteland that those sore feet now traveled.
Helena knew not how far she had traveled from Ohanzee to this destroyed forest, nor did she exactly care at the moment. Her body ached from the long hours of no rest or food; her belly sunken in with sharp pains of hunger as she had not a coin to spare for even the smallest amount of food. What would happen to her out here all alone? All her life she had had someone with her, even if it was a master or a new slave, or someone who did not particularly liked her. Her family had been that for her for a better part of her days, but now she was nothing more than a face and another set of hands to do work. Helena let a momentary sigh escape her broken lips as her thin shoulders shook again. She needed to get into Ellsinora and find help quickly, but she had not any idea how much further that was. Once she was there, she could find work hopefully and then spend the rest of her days in a little bit more peace then she had in Ohanzee. So far no one had recognized her and she prayed that her lastest master did not put out a want on her so that the Murate soldiers would not bother to look at her. She had lost so much weight anyway from the time she had escaped until today, that no one would even notice the slip of a girl. While she was still pretty...Helena was definitly way too thin.
The ragged breath that tore through her lungs burned and Helena feared that she was coming down with something like a cold or a fever. It was most likely infection from the cut she had gotten on her hip while tearing through Ohanzee and now this ridiculous wasteland. The cut burned her side, in fact it had bled frequently throughout her journey to Ellsinora. She had tried everything she knew to keep it clean, but she was so very weakened from lack of food and water, that she feared she would die before she even saw the beauty that was Ellsinora. And the fear that Ellsinora was no longer a safe haven also frightened her. What if it were just as awful as Ohanzee now that Magrej had taken over. What would she do if they were just as bad as Ohanzee? Helena shook her head, hair spilling out from under her shaw, as she pushed the thought away. No, it could not be, she had to believe that even if it were taken over, it was nowhere near as bad as Murate.
Stopping, Helena found herself at a small clearing that was not nearly as bad as the rest of the countryside. There was a very small pool of water, enough that she could wipe her hands and face clean of dirt and grime. Her stomach still lurched at the thought of food, but she could wait until Ellsinora was in her grasps. Leaning down, Helena drank heavily from the clear water and thanked her lucky stars it was good and fresh. Settling back into the ground, she could not help the way her heavy lids drooped over her hazel eyes and so she leaned back against a rock that was covered with moss. It was soft, not a pillow, but much better than nothing at all. Resting her head against her rock, letting exhaustion take over as she let out a yawn and fell fast asleep.

The late afternoon was beginning to roll around on this day. Dark rays of sunshine filtered through the trees above as the little girl glanced after the form of her companion and brother, Kyoko. The tiger was padding a few steps ahead with small flicks of his tail as the tiger scouted the area for his young sibling. The girl was as always, without clothes. It had been months since she had met up with anyone and at the moment she was draped in tendrils of ivy over her frame though other than that, she wore nothing. Her tanned skin was streaked with dirt, her lovely young face had streaks of dirt along her face as well and her blonde hair fluttered out in light wisps around her face. Her vibrant blue-green eyes gazed around herself curiously, her eyes wide with wonder as she searched this new world of charred land. Since the fire, things had become so much harder. She and Kyoko now had it hard trying to find food and her body was growing ever thinner by the day.
As she gazed ahead through the trees she surveyed the landscape, glancing among the charred, leafless trees. The landscape was practically barren and other then one deer that she had spotted, a small female that had been wandering the forest some days earlier, she had seen nothing. The deer too had been friends and for once, Kyoko left it alone though both were starving and desperately in need of food and water they had left the creature be. Now they were seeking some sort of source of water. She had stumbled upon the falls days before but it had been little more than murky mud sludge creeping along the rocks anymore and was not drinkable. So instead, they had wandered on and between riding Kyoko and wandering along behind, they had slowly been making their way further into the countryside and at the moment, Kyoko seemed to have an idea as to where he was going. The tiger had been moving steadily now for about five minutes. Now and then he would pause to glance back for his companion who wandered along a few steps behind. With a soft and encouraging growl he would eagerly move her forward after himself once again if she grew distracted before the pair hit the trail once again.
The rare white tiger would be a sight to see from any stranger that wandered the area close by both for the fact that white tigers were both rare and not known to wander this area but she and her companion had wandered pretty much anywhere that you could reach by foot. With no steady home, her parents dead for years and no form of human communication, she rather didn’t think about the fact that there might be places that she could not go. Instead, she trusted Kyoko wherever he would lead her. As they made their way through the trees and out into the clearing, the girl remained a few steps behind still. Kyoko however growled softly and paused, one lash of his tail and she had stopped, her eyes scanning the trees for whatever it was that he say. The tiger however was on alert for the creature that now slept in the clearing. Sure he had managed to find some fresh water for both himself and his sister but this creature brought him to be rather anxious. Eyeing the woman for a few long moments, Kyoko finally motioned for Nadessa to drift closer on his right side, keeping Helena to his left.
The orphan slowly drifted forward, the child drifting cautiously forward. Her eyes were wide with both fear and curiosity towards the woman. The woman was quite beautiful, Nadessa thought for a strange two legged creature. Using both her hands and her knees as she knelt down a bit she drifted closer to the water though she watched the woman still. This woman however did not appear quite as intimidating as other two leggeds that she had encountered in her past. This one seemed rather tiny with very small limbs and a slight body that couldn’t do much harm if she wanted to, especially to Kyoko who would fight her first. Nadessa however continued to eye the woman for a few long moments before her eyes finally turned to the water as Kyoko watched her back. Tucking his haunches, the tiger came to sit with his tail lashing this way and that and his blue eyes staring at the sleeping stranger with warning looks though the woman did not look back. As Nadessa crawled to the water she huffed softly before slowly sliding into the water with a grin. The ivy floated away across the top of the pool as the girl dipped below the surface for a moment before her head bobbed back to the surface as she dog paddled her way along the shallow edge of the pool before she came to sit in the shallows with a sound that meant to come out like a giggle and came out somewhere between a giggle and a purr like sound. She splashed about and dipped her head forward to suck in the water as she swallowed quickly, drinking deeply from the water before she moved her fingers over her arms legs and face to wash away the dirt with a soft sigh. She glanced off to the side as Kyoko growled softly, glancing back at his sibling briefly before the tiger once again took his station as he came to eye Helena attentively once more.

Once she had found somewhere safe to stay, Helena knew that she would regain her strength and be happy again hopefully. All she wanted was a nice place to lay her head down at night, a good place to work where she would not feel as if she were being watched and if she did something wrong, she would be punished severely for it. Ellsinora promised Helena safety and she could almost taste sweet freedom in the stilled air. Yet, her body ached daily. She was sore from being overworked and she was down trodden from the harsh life she had been forced to live. Back in Ohanzee she had never been anything more than a head count, another set of hands to do more work with. Those hands had once been beautiful and soft, now Helena had skinny fingers and bruises from the hard days of work. One hand had a deep cut that had yet to heal, partially scarred, and she thought it matched her heart wonderfully. The dirt that dusted her matched her soul as well. She felt dirty, grimey from all of the hard days under a hateful hand.
What had happened here that it was so barren and ugly? Everything looked burned to the ground and Helena stopped to wonder if she was making a good choice in coming to Ellsinora. What if the rest of the village looked like this? Then she would be in no better shape than if she were in Ohanzee. Helena shook from the fear that plagued her heart and told herself not to be silly. No matter how bad Ellsinora had become thanks to the evil king, nothing was as bad as Ohanzee and she knew it to be true. Yet she could not help but worry as she made her journey. So far she had seen no one here on the 'road', or path if you will, and it worried her. Where was everyone? Surely there were more people that would travel through here but as she continued on, Helena had seen absolutely no one at all. There was an eerie silence that greeted her every morning, and a horrible darkness that clawed at her when she tried to sleep. Sleep was something she had a hard time doing out here, but she at least dozed. Now only if she could figure out why she was so frightened of this desolate place. Helena believed it was the lifeless trees whos branches hung about like taloned hands and at night the shadows they casted worried her into a fit of nervousness. But soon, soon she would be just fine in Ellsinora and hopefully she could find a nice place to work where she would be both comfortable and fed.
If any of her family saw her now, if they were even still alive that is, they would have looked at Helena and not even recognized who she was. Her brittle body appeared as if it were going to break when the wind whipped around her and her hair appeared lifeless and dull. Helena was still a pretty young woman, she was just obviously too thin for her build. Once she rememebred being almost as pretty as her mother, who's face had been that of an angel her father used to tell her. Even her sister who was much darker, or her brother who had been fair and tall. How she missed them so very much it nearly swamped her. Tears made their way to her eyes as a sigh rattled her body. They would have known what to do in this situation. Her brother would have been able to find both food and water for them and kept them safe from any harm. Helena prayed to be as strong as her mother and sister, yet she had inheirited the small stature from a distant ancestor and from the time she was young hated that she was so very weak.
As soon as she found water and drank from it deeply, Helena felt as if her body were going to explode from exhaustion. How long had it been since she had a drink of cool water? She could not remember for the petty life of her and as she laid back against the rock, she felt her body finally relax. Here it was peaceful with a few small birds chirping here and there, sometimes she could hear the sound of an animal moving about, and for once since she started her journey she felt completely at ease. A small smile graced her lips as she folded her legs under her and laid down happily to fall into a sleep. Once asleep, her breath came easier and heavy, as one should when they fall deeply asleep. In her mind, she was back home with her family, laughing and playing, drinking the juice from berries they found. Her father would raise her high above his head and throw her before catching her right before falling. She heard laughter and splashing, unknowingly smiling at the sounds Nadessa made as she played in the water. Shifting in her sleep, Helena's eyes drifted open slightly, into small slits, and she smiled at the small child she was dreaming of. Small, with golden hair and blue eyes playing in the water like a wild child would. In the next moment her eyes closed and she was asleep again.
Once Helena registered that what she had seen was not a dream, she shot up where she slept and nearly screamed as a pair of tiger's blue eyes met hers. He was huge, a big gorgeous white tiger who was watching her as if she were a threat. Helena's hand covered her mouth from the squeak that popped out and she scurried back behind the rock in fear. What in the world was a child doing traveling with a huge white tiger? Her hazel eyes looked back and forth between the pair and after hearing them converse with growls, Helena's mouth dropped. They were....they were like family. They both looked to each other as brother and sister would and Helena was in near hysterics from the new knowledge. How had the child survived with a tiger? The young woman supposed it was possible, but she could not help but wonder how it was done. The child had to have parents, but in this case, the young woman supposed that something terrible had happened to them and now the tiger was the sole guardian of the child. Helena watched the child played, the memory of herself as a child doing just the same, and smiled happily. She looked to the tiger, wondering if she held out her hand and let him scent her, maybe he would no longer fear her. Coming out from behind her rock, Helena sat back down where she had been and looked up at the tiger with wide eyes hoping that she would not be seen as a threat.

Kyoko was on alert. The woman was small, she would not be a formidable foe but he did not want to meet any strange magic or tactics, weapons or any such sort that she might possess. She perhaps was small but that did not mean that he could count her out. He would not let her pass beneath his scrutiny. His eyes scanned the sight of the woman for quite some time and when she began to stir, he growled softly and stood from his sitting position. Tail whipping about, he cast a glance back at his sibling who had previously been splashing about within the water and now paused, glancing towards Helena with a rather wide eyed stare. Her bright eyes gazed at the creature with curiosity as Helena leaped behind the rock and she cooed softly before growling lightly, mocking Kyoko’s reply to Helena’s sudden movement. Kyoko was on the alert once again, staring with piercing eyes as he glanced towards Helena cautiously once more. His body remained stiff, alert as he stared after the thin woman. His blue eyes narrowed slightly as he stared across at her with a warning glance before he huffed, prowling back and forth as he blocked the woman’s path to his sister. He heard the slight sounds as Nadessa climbed from the water. Her blond tresses were wet and clung to her neck and cheeks as she stared wide eyed with her sea green eyes as she glanced at the rock curiously. As she made her way from the water, she crawled on all fours like a tiger herself and as she crawled forward, she skirted Kyoko’s back feet but he suddenly paused, growling softly as his muzzle dropped and he licked her cheek with a huff, nudging her back gently with a gentle tap of his paw at her back, willing her to back away from the eminent danger without harming her, The tiger could easily kill her. One swipe of his claws, one clamp of his jaws and she could be lying dead and yet he had never hurt her. When they were smaller and when Kyoko was a baby he had accidentally scratched her here and there and once he had bit her but she had lashed back and bitten him in return on his back foot. From then on they were on the same ground and as Kyoko grew older she had become his sister, and not a strange creature to play with though they did play together, their connection had changed by now.
Nadessa growled softly, coming to glance up at her brother with a questioning and hesitant look. She both wanted to inspect the new stranger, and to flee. She was fearful and yet she was curious as she cast a glance between Kyoko’s legs towards Helena before she huffed, yowling at the woman as she lashed a hand through the air as if it were a clawed paw like Kyoko’s. By now, her speech had become totally that of the tigers. She was actually quite convincing by this point and though her nails had grown rather untrimmed, they were certainly not claws and would not do nearly as much damage as her brother’s vicious claws would. Though she wiggled her bottom like she had a tail, there was no striped tail there much to her confusion though she no longer pondered that fact. She often crawled where ever she went, ran with bare feet or rode on Kyoko’s back and she did not speak English as all other humans did. She knew nothing of English, and nothing of the fact that she was human. Now, she was more or less trying to come across just as fierce as her feline brother did as she lashed out with her hands into the air though her eyes remained curious as she stared across at Helena with eyes of the sea. Scooting back a bit, she turned and crawled back to the edge of the water with liquefied movement before she came to perch on the edge of the water, staring in at her own reflection for a moment but still she did not make the connection. Dipping her hands within the water, she came to drink deeply, sighing with satisfaction, she rocked back and flopped onto her back, letting Kyoko take care of the situation as she now remained a few feet from the incident now.
Kyoko was once again staring at Helena, his eyes tracing each movement that she offered. He growled low, this time not gentle for he did not know Helena but her looks did not cross him as either inviting or pleasant but they still kept him alert as she gazed at the situation between himself and his human sibling. He lashed out with a fore paw once more before he huffed, pausing as he backed a few steps and eyed Helena with a warning glance, his tongue tracing his muzzle for a moment as he watched her thoughtfully for a moment before he tucked his haunches slightly with a flick of his tail once more. His back was sloped and his head was held high, his tail whipping behind himself for a few moments before he tilted his muzzle slightly as Helena came out to the front of the boulder once more. He lowered his nose briefly, catching her scent once more before he gave a low growl and drifted forward slowly once more. He circled the rock a few times as he gazed at her thoughtfully for a few moments before he paused and turned slightly, glancing towards Helena once more. Slowly he made his way forward again as he drifted closer to Helena cautiously. He watched her, ready for anything. Tucked into his mouth were rows of teeth and claws to match that he would happily use if need be. Now as he drifted closer, he lowered his nose to work its way along Helena’s cheek, her shoulder, her hands and her lap as he inspected her thoroughly, huffing directly into her face with another low and purposeful growl. His jaws parted briefly, considering testing her weak flesh with his teeth briefly before he suddenly seemed to decide that the woman was no threat and though his hot breath fanned her face, he pulled away. The tiger stalked off, drifting closer to Nadessa now with a slight flick of his tail, his actions no longer quite so aggressive as he padded forward closer to Nadessa and came to lay behind her, lowering his glorious white frame to the ground as he inclined his head to the rays of the sun for a moment, relishing the warmth at his ebony and ivory coat with a huff, purring briefly before he glanced back at Helena once more, still vaguely on alert towards the woman though he allowed her to drink or come closer if she wished now.
